Digital Domain Launches AI-Powered Video Creation Solution

The Integration of Technology and Art:

Empowering Creators to Tailor High-Quality Short Videos for Online Platforms

Hong Kong, June 20, 2025 — Digital Domain Holdings Limited ( “Digital Domain,” Stock code: 547) has recently unveiled an AI-powered video creation solution named “HANBAO.” This solution utilizes AI-driven tools to help creators identify the key selling points of their products or services. Additionally, it aids in the development of a cinematic approach for producing short videos specifically designed for online platforms, thereby enhancing both visual impact and dissemination effectiveness.

Digital Domain’s AI-powered solution effectively addresses three pain points in video creation:

  • In contrast to conventional methodologies, HANBAO demonstrates superior efficiency and effectiveness. By leveraging a digital asset library, Digital Domain empowers creators to access a diverse range of options while maintaining consistent investment levels.
  • Throughout the entire production process, HANBAO demonstrates the advantages of AI tools in delivering hero shots. By avoiding live-action filming, it ensures the seamless integration of characters, environments, and other visual objects.
  • Over the past three decades, Digital Domain has built extensive expertise in virtual humans, visual effects, and visualization, enabling artists to overcome challenges such as distortion, misalignment, and discontinuity.

Digital Domain has progressively applied this solution to the creation of advertising, game cinematics, and immersive experimental experiences.

Alibaba Cloud, one of the partners for the Paris 2024 Olympics, supported its global cloud broadcasting for the event. As part of this initiative, Digital Domain released an advertisement set in the 18th century. The ad featured a captivating opening sequence with tens of thousands of spectators gathered in an arena. The limited opportunities for live-action filming presented a challenge for Digital Domain, which needed to create a crowd of digital avatars whose appearances, facial expressions, and body movements that matched the scene. Using AI-driven text-to-image and image-to-video generators, Digital Domain produced 80 photorealistic digital avatars, effectively bringing the unique atmosphere of the arena to life.

MediaTek made a debut at the 2025 COMPUTEX with a cinematic masterpiece created by Digital Domain in collaboration with Uniwaves. Titled “Artificial Intelligence for Everyone: From Edge to Cloud”, the video showcasing the advantages of AI-driven tools in delivering hero shots.

This 2-minute and 35-second video is closely tied to AI in its production process, as MediaTek aimed to craft a visually stunning narrative with information-packed sequences that transition seamlessly, as well as MediaTek-related objects featured throughout. By controlling key frames and optimizing prompts, the artists achieved seamless transitions between various shots, replacing foreground occlusion handling, digital environment development, or other traditional pipelines. The presence of AI-driven tools avoided live-action filming, ensuring the transition of characters, environments, and other elements.

Riding the wave of AI, Digital Domain promotes the fusion of technology and art, harnessing AI to transform creative ideas into reality.  The goal is to accelerate the commercialization of virtual humans, visual effects, and visualization.

Mr. William Wong, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Domain, stated: “At Digital Domain, AI is not meant to replace imaginative thinking or emotional resonance. Instead, artists view it as an efficient tool for producing high-quality visuals. By leveraging AI, Digital Domain is dedicated to advancing the production process toward digitalization and real-time responsiveness. This approach offers creators with unprecedented control, enabling them to continually enhance short videos for online platforms”

Alleviating Labor Shortages and Accelerating Virtual Human Applications Development

Industries worldwide are facing labor shortages. According to a report by the McKinsey Global Institute, labor markets in advanced economies are among the tightest in two decades. Creating an Efficient Production Flow to Meet Market Demands

TOPPAN Holdings will conduct face scanning on a Light Stage, evaluate quality, develop business models for customized virtual humans, and provide original virtual human characters, while Digital Domain will import the high-resolution data obtained from the Light Stage into its Momentum Cloud™ platform to create and operate photorealistic virtual humans.

The collaboration will establish a high-quality, efficient production flow for virtual humans based on establishing production methods by utilizing AI and high-resolution data from face scanning on the Light Stage, enabling photorealistic virtual humans created from real-world people to be operated on Momentum Cloud™. This will reduce the lead time and cost for producing virtual humans, enabling a prompt and efficient response to requests for original character production.

Mr. William Wong, CEO of Digital Domain, stated, “Digital Domain is dedicated to developing AI-driven virtual human technologies, implementing applications, and creating sustainable business models for the future. As the significance of virtual humans increases across various industries, the pace of application development will also quicken. The virtual human solutions created in collaboration with TOPPAN Holdings will utilize both companies’ technological strengths to enhance virtual humans’ quality, performance, and effectiveness. The collaboration aims to establish a production flow for virtual humans, which will help expand TOPPAN Holdings’ lineup of original virtual character offerings. This initiative will also provide solutions for casting these virtual humans for various services in the global market, utilizing Digital Domain’s Momentum Cloud™. By advancing pilot testing and business development that leverage the strengths of both companies, Digital Domain and TOPPAN Holdings aspire to create a virtual human solution business by the end of fiscal 2025.
